Our volunteer Renee with Lorraine

Specially trained volunteers offer physical, social, and emotional support to the person who has been diagnosed with a life limiting conditon as well as giving support and respite to the caregiver and family. This service can take place in a person's home, the hospital or long term care facility upon confirmation of a palliative diagnosis and continue through all stages until death. Follow-up to families will also be available after the death of a loved one.

MVHPC is actively working as partners and in coordination with other community health providers (e.g. Champlain Home and Community Care and their providers) to provide quality care and support.

MVHPC Volunteers can....

provide companionship, offer support, read, play cards, organize mementos or photos, assist with practical day to day needs, help write memoirs or journal, gardening, small repairs, run errands or provide respite to caregivers

Referrals for services are accepted from:

  • Individuals
  • Family Members
  • Family Doctor
  • Friends
  • Clergy
  • Long Term Facility
  • Other Health Care Agencies or Professionals
