Residential Hospice letters from families

To the Volunteers at Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care

My dear Sister, Lorraine Haskins, has very recently been under the care of the staff and volunteers at the Hospice and we cannot say enough about the compassion, empathy, and helpfulness of all the volunteers we were blessed to interact with during this very difficult time.

You could not have been more supportive: sitting with Lorraine, calling for nursing assistance when you saw that it was required, making Lorraine comfortable in her bed, sharing your wisdom with ourselves and Lorraine’s family and visitors- and all of this through volunteering your precious time and experience.

You are all “unsung heroes!”

We were particularly pleased over the past several weeks to chat with many of you and to learn that so many of you were either students from MVDHS who knew and loved Lorraine and Jim from “back in the day” or were more personal friends of Lorraine and Jim.  It was wonderful to see this personal connection and “what goes around comes around!”

So, God bless you and your good works.

Sincerely,
Stan Ralph and Marcia Lamb

To Hospice

We cannot thank you enough for all the wonderful care you have given Mum/Grandma.  She was very happy living here and it was always comforting for us to know how well she was being looked after.  You always made us so welcome.  Thank you again to a really great team and all your kindness and hard work.

Dear Karen, Lisa and Michele,

As you know last night Dad passed away.

I just wanted to say on behalf of my family but mostly myself that I thank you from the bottom of my heart for having a beautiful place for Dad in his last days.  It made what is the most stressful time into a time of peace where we could enjoy being with dad and each other.

You have an amazing group of volunteers and I can’t single any one of them out for going over and above as each of them certainly did.

I do want to give a very special Thank You to Dorothy for all the assistance she gave my sister-in-law overnight.  She was an angel and please pass my thanks on when next you speak with her.

And Karen, oh my goodness, what can I say.  You are the most caring and compassionate woman I have ever met, my Thanks are not enough.

Lisa you kept me sane, you were always so calm and together.

Michelle, thank you for your patience and willingness to do what needed to be done even if it was uncharted territory.

You have a wonderful place and always made us feel welcome and answered our numerous questions with grace and no sign of anything but warmth and a wish to make this experience a rewarding one, which everyone truly did.  I don’t think he could have had a more peaceful death so for that Thank You Thank You Thank you.

Warmest regards,
Linda S.

Visiting Hospice Service in Hospital

Dear MVHPC and your Band of Angels,

Thank you for your support and kindness during the recent passing of my dear Dad - it meant a great deal to us.  Leaving was one of the most difficult things I had to do.  I took great comfort knowing that you had arranged a band of angels to sit with him and their updates each evening was wonderful.

Keep up your much needed work and God Bless you all!

Residential Hospice (from local physician)

Dear MVHPC Staff,

I would like to thank you and your team of hospice workers for their efforts during Mr. W.'s stay in the hospice.  Your team was supportive, helpful and empathetic to his family without being overbearing or obtrusive.  I was able to experience the atmosphere of calmness and tranquility as soon as I went through the Hospice doors.  I appreciated the closeness of the Hospice unit to my office which facilitated multiple visits at various times of the day.

MV Hospice is truly a special gift to our community.

Sincerely yours,
D. C., MD.
